This drawing is called Outer Joseph (For Joseph Carey Merrick). It's made of graphite on paper and I drew it in 2016.
The drawing itself is 12.7 x 20.3 cm. I bought a wooden frame for it in a charity shop, which I painted white. That frame is 21 x 30 x 2 cm.
It's part of a series I did called All The Things a Coward Couldn't Do. This one was exhibited with four other drawings from that series in the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2017 Exhibition.
This drawing is based of a sketch I drew whilst I was on the phone, which I thought looked a bit like The Elephant Man, whose real name was Joseph Carey Merrick - so I dedicated this drawing to him.
